In the evening hours of Tuesday, April 28th, 2026, our most cherished, Margaret Bryant Jones passed peacefully into eternity with her family by her side. She was in her 90th year of life.
The youngest of four children, Margaret Sue Crawford was born on February 3rd, 1936, at Oswald, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Carson Montgomery and Loreta McGraw Crawford. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Lytton and brothers, Galen and Norman Crawford.
Margaret spent her childhood at Blue Jay. She was a graduate of Shady Spring High School. Margaret first married to Jack M. Bryant and to their union was born her only child, Jack Lawrence Bryant. Jack passed away in 1969. Margaret would eventually marry Casey C. Jones, and they would share many happy years of marriage until his passing in 2012. Casey treated Jack as if he was his own son.
A faithful Christian, Margaret was a member of Beaver First Baptist Church. Margaret will be remembered for her outgoing personality. She never met a stranger. Margaret had a card ministry and enjoyed sending cards to folks that were shut-ins and remembering someone on their birthday. She had many fond memories of growing up at Blue Jay and for many years worked part time at the Blue Jay Post Office. Margaret enjoyed going to the Shady Spring Senior Center and belong to the Red Hats Society, the Crimson Jewels. She loved working in her flowers and cooking.
Margaret was all about family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Jack L. Bryant and his wife, Cindy. She was the proud grandmother of Christian S. Bryant and Jonathan C. Bryant and his wife, Daisy. Margaret loved her grandsons who fondly referred to her as "Granny" and "Grandma."
An extended family of nieces, nephews and her sister-in-law, Helen Crawford survive along with many friends.
This coming Monday, May 4th there will be a "Service of Remembrance" in the Melton Mortuary Chapel at 1:00pm. The family is receiving friends at 11:00 am. Margaret will be laid to rest in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
At this time Margaret's family would like to publicly thank the Bowers Hospice House for all their kindness and compassion during this time.
