Mary E. (Lonergan) Gossett, 83, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 12:05 AM. She was born on January 15, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the daughter of John Lonergan and Ida (Malone) Lonergan.

Mary attended Saint Norbert's Grade School and graduated from Carrick High School in 1959. Mary attended Conroy Culinary School, majoring in Dietetics and Food Preparation, graduating in 1961. She began her career as an upscale kitchen dietician and production manager for the Stouffers Restaurant and hotel chain. Mary also worked for Specialized Foods, where she met her loving husband Fred in 1968 while working as a dietician for Wightman Manor. They were married on May 24, 1969 and they were married for 55 years. In 1976, they opened their restaurant Otto's Hofbrau Haus in Pittsburgh (Dormont, PA).

After they sold the restaurant, Mary was not to be left out as she also worked for Cracker Barrel in the gift shop for fifteen years beginning in Medine, OH and Princeton, WV. After Fred's retirement in 1999, she transferred to Beckley's location for eleven years. Mary has always had an instant smile, a cheerful hello, and was always doing SUPPA! Mary had many flower beds for all seasons that were always immaculately tended to.

Mary came from a family of six. Four brothers John, James, Joseph, and Robert; all preceded Mary in death. Left to cherish Mary's memory and instant smile are son Tracey (Nadine), granddaughters Jessie Lynn and Krista Michelle, sister Pat Piterski, sister-in-laws Bobbi (Joe), Chris (Bob), and Sharon (Jim).

Mary was a devout catholic and lived a life of kind deeds as well as kind words to everyone. Mary was a member of Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Beckley and active in the Ladies of Saint Francis (funeral lunch and fish fry).

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church, located at 624 Oakwood Avenue, Beckley, West Virginia. Burial will be a private ceremony at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray, Pennsylvania.
