Mary Ellen Williams Obituary

Mary Ellen Williams, 83, of Clear Creek passed away suddenly on August 8, 2025.
She was born on July 9, 1942, a daughter of Dana and Enola Collins. Mary met and married Dewey Williams, and they spent some wonderful years together before his tragic passing. Mary and Dewey had a daughter, Beth Williams, together. She was a devoted homemaker and took wonderful care of her family.
Mary was an attendee of Workman's Creek Methodist Church. She loved the Lord and was a devoted member since she was a little girl. She oversaw the Cemetery at Workman's Creek for over 60 years. She made sure it was a beautiful place for loved ones to visit.
She loved spending time in nature. Mary had a green house that she grew her flowers and vegetables in. She also spent time out looking for ginseng and ramps. Mary and her brothers spent many years in the mountains looking for them to bring home to share with her 14 brothers and sisters. Mary also had many cats throughout her life and spent time spoiling them. Mary had two sweet cats when she passed that she loved dearly.
To Mary, family was everything. She spent time traveling with her sister, Mae. They made many fond memories together on their adventures. This was just another example of how much spending time with family meant to her. She showed her love to those around by baking treats. Mary paid extra attention to the holidays. Her special treats were wrapped and sent messages of love to everyone; even people she didn't know. She didn't want anyone to feel alone during the holidays. Mary's love extended to everyone around her. She would stay with people at the church to help them during times of need. She touched the lives of everyone in the Clear Creek community. Mary filled her community with love and devotion. Her loss will be deeply felt.
Mary will be reunited with her husband, Dewey Williams; parents, Dana and Enola Collins; and brothers, Rod Collins, Jimmy Collins, Jackie Collins, Joe Collins, Johnny Collins, and Jr Collins.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Beth Williams; sisters, Ada Mullens, Julie Walker, Nellie Scarbro, Mae Cantley, Goldie Brado, Donna Williams; brother, Jerry Collins; special brother-in-law, Lawrence Walker who spent time making food that Mary enjoyed greatly; special friend Paul Maynor; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
A funeral service will take place for Mary on Friday August 15, 2025 at 11:00am in the sanctuary of Workman's Creek Methodist Church with Pastor Ed Greene officiating. The family will accept visitors beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow in the Workman's Creek Cemetery. The family would like to offer special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of 4 North at Raleigh General Hospital for all of their care, comfort, and compassion shown to Mary and the family.
