Matthew Russell, age 32, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025 at his home after a long battle. He was born on February 28th, 1992.

He is preceded in death by his uncle Daniel Young, and baby sister Keri Leigh. Those left behind to cherish and forever hold his memory close are his mother Velvet Bays, sister Haley Cochran(Kevin), brother Steven Thompson, brother Kaleb Webb, and sister Madison Young, niece Zowie, and nephew Bryson, and many other extended family and friends who will all miss Matt dearly.

Matt was a goodhearted man and free spirit, despite his rugged, and stubborn exterior. Matt was a gamer, always enjoying playing video games in his free time, he worked selflessly as a caregiver for others, and enjoyed the beauty of nature as well.

A celebration of Matt's life will be held on Tuesday March 4th, 2025 at 7pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Hall officiating. The family would like to invite all who knew Matt to celebrate his life. Visitation will begin at 5pm.
