Monta Ray Williams, 83, son of Burnley and Cordie Williams was born Feb. 6, 1938, in Artie, West Virginia. Monta went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.
Monta was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Dwight, Jimmy, and Larry; and his sisters Kada and Nada. He is survived by his brother Terry, his childhood sweetheart, best friend, and wife of 62 years Evetta (Stover); sons Cliffton Ray (Shirley), Timothy Ray (Monica), Daniel Ray (Helen); grandchildren, Tessa Rae, Kelsey Rae, Timmy Ray II, Kimmy, Nicatye, Colten Monta Ray, Vann, Peyton, Katie, Hunter, Madison, Chandler, Anthony, Arielle, Timothy, Ashton and Charletta; great-grandchildren, Parker Ray, Walker Ray, Lilly, Christopher, Rosie, Brooklyn, Cayleigh, Nathaniel Ray, Houston, Presleigh, Gage, Addy, Piper, and Cayleigh; and his nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, retired coal miner, and a member of UMWA Local #7086. Monta was a devoted husband, father and pappy who loved his family. He was a hard worker and a dedicated Christian. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service for Monta will be held at the Bolt Church of God in Bolt, W.V. on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Pastors Ricky Peters and Gary Williams officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11 am – 1 pm. Flowers may be sent to Melton Mortuary to be taken to the church by 8:30 am Thursday.
