On Tuesday, November 17th, 2020, Nancy Lucas passed away peacefully at her home in Beckley. Nancy was fortunate to die very suddenly at the age of 85. Although we her family have been very taken back by her sudden passing, we are very thankful for a long and full life and that she was taken without any pain or suffering.
The first of two children, Nancy Kay Williams was born on March 2nd, 1935, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Oval Owen and Evelyn Lea Webb Williams. Her brother, Ronnie has preceded her in death as well.
A lifelong resident of Beckley, Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. She furthered her education, graduating from St. Mary’s School of Nursing.
Nancy would marry Roy J. “Jim” Lucas Jr. To their union was born two children, a son, R.J. “Jim” Lucas and his wife, Robin of Flat Top Lake and Lorna Yates and her husband, James of New Orleans.
In June of 1976, Jim Lucas Jr. died at the age of 40, and now, “Oh Glad Reunion.” Nancy has stayed active throughout her life. She was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church for 50 years. In later years, she has been an active participant of Facebook. The great joy of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the proud grandmother of Luke Lucas and his wife, Tiffany; Holly Rich and her husband, Samuel; and Byron Blaine Udy IV. She was the doting great- grandmother of Rhett Lucas, Grant Lucas, Roslyn Lucas and Henry Rich.
Nancy was fortunate to have her lifelong friend, “her sister of the heart” Judy Kobelia.
The services were private.
