Nancy Meadows Obituary

Nancy was born on February 17, 1943 in Killarney, West Virginia, a daughter of Garnet Sneed Barber and JC Barber . She married the love of her life, Ronnie Meadows on Groundhog Day in 1962. Nancy was raised in Craigsville, WV with her two brothers JC and Eddie Barber, whom she loved deeply. She attended Richwood High School and was a trumpet player in The Pride of Nicholas County marching band and a member of Future Homemakers of America. She often shared memories of working at the local Dairy Bar during this time as well. After graduation she attended Marshall University. She and Ronnie married shortly after her time in college February 17th, 1943 returned to Craigsville where they raised their son, Tom Meadows. He was her pride and joy. While she lived in Craigsville she was a member of the local Baptist Church and a member of The Ladies of the Eastern Star. She also loved spending time with neighbors and friends.
In the 80's she and Ronnie relocated to Oakland, Maryland. There she enjoyed long walks in town and playing cards with her friends.
After her time in Oakland, she moved to Ocean Pines, Maryland where she worked at Little Lambs Learning center and attended Community Church of Ocean Pines. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. They became the biggest joy in her life.
Finally she moved to Tennessee where she completed her life's journey.
Throughout Nancy's life she was the life of the party. She loved traveling, dancing, spending time with loved ones and being active. She also enjoyed tinkering, and learning knew things about technology. Her intelligence was unmatched. She had a true "giver's spirit". She always wanted to take care of everyone, rather you wanted it or not. She would give the shirt off her back for her family. Nancy will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dottie Meadows of Gainesboro, TN, granddaughter Kortney Darnell of Spring Hill, TN, grandson Sean Meadows of Gainesboro, TN, and granddaughter Sarah Meadows Campbell of Berlin, MD. Plus her great-grandchildren Brayden, Parker, Cooper, Paisley & Horace. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, JC and Sharon Barber of Beckley, WV; and sister-in-law Peggy Barber of Richlands, VA. Not to mention, her many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Ronnie) Meadows, her two sons Thomas & Steven Meadows, parents JC Barber & Garnet Sneed Barber, and her brother Eddie Barber.
Visitation will be Monday, October 30th, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley. For those who are not able to attend, the funeral service will be available for live viewing on the Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center Facebook page. Streaming will begin approximately 10:55 am.
