Norma Elaine (Lopez) Cooper

Norma Elaine Lopez Cooper, 63, of Bolt, West Virginia was promoted to her heavenly home Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 1:16 pm with her husband and daughter by her side following a courageous battle with cancer.

Norma was born February 12, 1957 in Mullens, West Virginia to the late Cecil Lopez and Mary Sizemore Lopez.  To know Norma was to love her and to love her was to feel true love.  She was of Baptist faith and dedicated her life to being a servant’s servant.  Norma loved the outdoors and reading.  She was a gifted artist but most of all, she was a gifted teacher.  It brought her great joy to influence and educate young minds.

Norma had many occupations in her younger days, she ran an in-home daycare, worked many hours at the Twin Falls State Park, and served at the Greater Beckley Christian School as a librarian for over 10 years.  She was infamously known for her Dr. Suess Weeks.  Her final days have been spent homeschooling her three grandsons who she has dedicated the last 19 years raising.  They were her world and she was theirs.

Norma is preceded in death by her father Cecil Lopez; sisters Diana Ronewicz and Karen Smith.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 25 years, Danny Cooper of Bolt, WV, her best friend and partner in all her adventures; her one and only daughter Allonna Tilley and her husband Jeremy of Beckley whom she adored; the three lights of her life grandsons Ethan Tilley, Tanner Tilley, and Cameron Tilley all of Beckley; her mother Mary Lopez of Corinne; sister Sandra Belcher of Beckley; sister Mary (Terry) Bishop of Itmann; sister Regina (Timmy) Lester; brothers Ronnie (Theresa) Lopez of Corinne, Donnie (Jennifer) Lopez of Beckley, and Jerry Lopez of Jew Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends whom she made family.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the Faith Baptist Church, 480 Prosperity Rd. Prosperity, WV 25909 on Sunday, October 18, 2020 from 2 – 4 pm.  A funeral service celebrating Norma’s life will begin at 4 pm.  For those who wish to attend services, facial coverings are required.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meltonmortuary.com  Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center.
