Norman "Kent" Walker was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on December 23, 1952 to his parents Calvin Walker and Zetta Walker (Williams). He passed away on March 18th, 2023 in Beckley, West Virginia at Bowers Hospice House at the age of 70, surrounded by his loving family.
He graduated from Gilmer County High School in 1971 and Glenville State College in 1976 with a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education. He moved to Beckley, WV to begin teaching at Stratton Junior High where he worked until 1982 when he started his own sign business. He operated Appalachian Sign and Design until he retired last year.
Kent loved art, music, and the outdoors. He loved to travel, and fortunately before his illness, got to go on a family trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. His favorite places were the beach and the mountains. He was also a big sports fan - WVU Football and Basketball and the Pittsburgh Pirates were his favorite teams.
Kent is preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents Jesse Hoke and Pearl Williams and Dwight and Mae Walker. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Becky Walker and his only son, Andy Walker and fiance Allison Carola; sister Pam Roberts; niece Jessie (Mike) and nephews Zach and Shannon; cousins Vicki Brady (Roger) and Jeff Lowe (Evon) and many other friends and family who will miss him.
A memorial celebration of Kent's life will be held on April 15, 2023 at 11:00 am at Weathered Ground Brewery.
