Oreta Kay "Rita" (Meadows) Pompie

Oreta Kay ‘Rita” Pompie, 66 years old of Sophia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 27th, 2020 at her home follow a short illness. Born May 17th, 1954 in Beckley she is the daughter of the late Sanford (Johnny) Meadows and Maggie R. Bolen Meadows who had resided in Coal City.

Besides her parents, Rita is also preceded in death by one sister Patricia Johns.

Rita was a very loving, kind, and giving person who was full of goodness. She never met a stranger. She loved God and loved to cook. She was genuinely loved and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Crystal Pompie of Josephine, her twin sister, Oneda Hughes and husband Gary of Coal City and her sister Linda Reed of Sophia, along with several nieces and nephews who also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 at the Melton Mortuary Chapel in Beckley with Rev. Paul Zutaut officiating. Burial will follow in the Hot Coal Cemetery in Sophia. Friends may call from 12 noon until the funeral starts at the Melton Mortuary Chapel in Beckley.
