Patrick Morrell Guy I, age 85, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, after a battle with illness.

Patrick was born on July 21, 1940, in Stanaford, West Virginia, and lived the majority of his life in Stanaford, where he built a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a strong sense of purpose.

Patrick served his country honorably for four years in the United States Navy, a chapter of his life that reflected his commitment, discipline, and willingness to serve something greater than himself. After his military service, he returned home and devoted himself to building a life through hard work and determination. He owned several businesses over the years, including a repossession business and a commercial painting business.

On a personal level, Patrick's greatest joy was the life he shared with his beloved wife, Sharon Guy. They were married in 1964 and remained devoted to one another for 56 years until her passing. Their marriage was a true partnership, built on love, loyalty, and shared memories that carried them through the years. Together, they created a family and a home. The bond they shared was one of the defining blessings of his life.

Patrick was preceded in death by loving wife, Sharon Guy; parents, George and Ella Guy; brother, Garner Guy; and sister, Phyllis McDiarmid.

Those left to cherish Patrick's memory are his sons, Patrick Morrell Guy II and Jack Warden Guy; sister, Nancy Dillon; close sister-in-law, Rhonda Ewing; and several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who love and miss him.

He will be remembered not only for the work he did and the roles he fulfilled, but also for the character he displayed each day. Patrick had a thoughtful way about him and a wisdom that came from experience, patience, and a life lived with intention. He enjoyed adventure and approached life with a spirit of curiosity and resilience. His family and friends will remember his steady guidance, his practical nature, and the way he could offer insight when it was needed most.

Patrick Guy leaves behind a legacy of hard work and love for his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain a source of comfort and strength to all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial honoring Patrick will be held on Friday, July 17th at the Grace Baptist Church in Stanaford. The Visitation will begin at 11 am with the Memorial following at 12 noon with Pastor Daniel Harding officiating. Melton Mortuary has the honor of serving the family.
