Ralph Thornsbury, 73, of Wytheville, Virginia, formerly of Fairfax County, Virginia, died suddenly at his home on Monday, August 31, 2020. Ralph was born in Jolo, West Virginia on July 31, 1947. He was the son of the late Jessie Thornsbury and Dixie Faye (Thornsbury) Sorrells. He was a retired auto mechanic who worked with a number of service centers throughout Northern Virginia.
Ralph was a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his present wife of 17 years Brenda (Stacey) Thornsbury, her daughter Sherry Northrop of Wytheville, Virginia, her son Calvin Brown of Bristol, Virginia, his mother Dixie Faye (Thornsbury) Sorrells of Lexington, Virginia, former wife Carolyn (Thornsbury) Gill and mother of his children, Ralph Thornsbury Jr (Kimberly) of Honaker, Virginia, Angela Olson (Dave) of Winchester, Virginia, Charlene Thornsbury of Bristol, Virginia, Katherine Thornsbury of Bristol, Virginia, brother Michael Thornsbury (Judi) of Princeton, West Virginia, sister-in-law Joann (Mullins) Thornsburry of Lake Frederick, Virginia, 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Jessie Thornsbury, sister Carol Sue Thornsbury, brother Phillip Thornsbury, brother Jimmie Thornsburry, and daughter Kimberly Bossard.
A gravesite service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Park Beckley, 1925 Harper Road, Beckley, West Virginia. Officiating will be Dave Olson & Rev. Doc Adkins. Those attending the service are requested to meet at the cemetery.
