Randall Wayne Dickens, 65, of Shady Spring, WV passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Raleigh General Hospital, following a long battle with health problems. He was born May 13, 1958 to the late James Howard and Virginia (Fox) Dickens of Masseyville, WV and graduated from Marsh Fork High School in 1976.
He leaves behind two daughters, Amy Jo Dickens (Dustin Brewster) and Jennifer Kay Dickens (Chris Holcomb), both of Beckley, WV; five grandchildren, Brayden, Brayleigh, Justin, Isiah and Zachary; three brothers, Rex Dickens (Gail Epps) of Mabscott, WV, James Dickens (Brenda) of Masseyville, WV, and Seldon Dickens of Beckley, WV; a cousin who was so dear to him, Lois Walker of Winston-Salem, NC; several nephews and nieces, cousins, friends and others who will greatly miss him. His dog Kane also mourns the loss.
Randall loved his furry companions and nature in general. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and was a great cook. Above all he loved spending time with his family. He was a hard worker and he worked in construction for Linville Construction many years but became disabled with back issues and neuropathy, among other health issues. Despite many challenges, he prided himself on being independent. He had a great sense of humor, which he kept til the end, and a smile that was contagious and would light up the room. Randall was a sensitive soul with a big heart and his eyes often expressed what his voice did not.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Arnett Chapel 4472 Coal River Rd. Arnett, WV. Family and friends may share memories there from 2:00 til 4:00pm, and a service will start at 4:00, led by Rev. Larry Kinder.
Randall has been cremated and it was his wish that he join nature along with the ashes of his long-time dog and his best friend "Pup-Pup." Melton's Mortuary was in charge of the cremation.
