Randy Lee James Acord, 33 of Beckley earned his wings on Monday, May 25th, 2020 following a motorcycle accident in Meadow Bridge WV. Born October 13, 1986, in Cleveland OH, Randy is the son of the late Randy James Acord and Sarah L. Acord with whom he made his home in Beckley.
SPC Acord was a United States Army Veteran and a former combat medic in Iraq where he earned the Bronze Star, in addition to his other awards and medals. Randy currently works as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) with the Whitesville Fire Department. A 2005 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High. Following high school, he transferred from his reserve unit to active duty in the Army where he received his medical training. Upon leaving active duty he went on to attend Mountain State University majoring in Criminal Justice.
He is survived by, his mother Sarah L. Acord of Beckley, his sister, Kristan M. Acord of Mabscott, his paternal grandmother, Mary Acord of Beckley, two uncles, Sammy Acord and wife Susan of Beckley, Pat Acord and wife Tina of Daniels, and many cousins also survive. He is also survived by his best friend George Canterberry.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Friday, May 29th, 2020 at the Melton Mortuary Chapel in Beckley. Friends may call from 12 noon until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Eddie Tucker will be officiating. The Whitesville Fire Department will sound last call as part of the service and Military Funeral Honors will conclude the service.
