Raymond 'Ray', 'Uncle Buddy' Lee Inscoe, age 69, of Beaver, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, West Virginia.

Ray was born November 13, 1954 in Washington, DC, a son of Leroy Inscoe and Betty Matilda (Weeks) Marshall. Ray was raised and worked in northern Virginia. Ray enlisted with the US Army at the young age of 17. He served at Fort Hood, Tx and South Korea. He utilized his GI Bill to further his career in cosmetology. He was a cosmetologist for over 40 years. Ray was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins(Commanders), the Washington Nationals, and Oklahoma University Sports Sooners as well.


Along with his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Herman and Eva Hall Weeks, paternal grandparents Fairfax, and Ada Inscoe, wife, Tess Spears, brother Gene Reid, and his brother-in-law, Johnny Vance. Ray leaves behind his daughter Sharon Spears Ferrell of Claremore, OK, sisters, Norlea Vance of Brenton, WV, Cheryl Meadows of Orange, VA, and Betsy (Mike) Schwers of Burke, VA, brothers Randy Reid of Beckley, WV, Robbie Reid of Syria, VA, and Michael (Melissa) Inscoe of Seven Valley, PA, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him.

A committal service will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 27th, 2024 at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA with military honors. Mr. Adam Vance will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude https://www.stjude.org or to the American Lung Association https://www.action.lung.org in memory of Ray. Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
