Rebecca Ferguson Zutaut, 71, Beckley, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Cabell Huntington Hospital following a brief illness.
Born May 31, 1949, she grew up in Mercer County, graduating from Athens High School in 1967. She was the wife of Gene Paul Zutaut for 53 years and shined in her role as a hospitable homemaker and mom. She was a member of Pikeview Christian Church where she enjoyed playing the piano and singing for over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donzie and Chippie White Ferguson; brother, Stanley Ferguson; sister-in-law, Doris Painter Ferguson; grandson, Nicholas McClure; and many extended family members.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sherri McClure and husband, Richard, of Buford GA, and Stephanie Shaffer and husband Keith, of Chesterfield, VA.
She is also survived by her brother, Steve Ferguson and wife Mandy of Port Charlotte, FL; Six grandchildren, Philip McClure and wife Alycia of New Port Richey, FL; Joshua McClure of Chesterfield, VA; Hannah Shaffer of Chesterfield, VA; Rachel, Julie and Amy McClure of Buford, GA; Five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Zachary, Katie, Cayden and Declan; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Melton Mortuary, Beckley, with Jim Owston officiating. Friends may call before the service from 2 to 5 p.m. Burial will be Monday, February 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Elgood Cemetery in Elgood, WV.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
