Regina Mae Hughes Farmer was born in Auburn, KY on July 24, 1928. Most of her friends called her "Reggie". Regina graduated from Auburn High School in 1945. She attended Bowling Green (KY) Business University where she met her husband Charles C. Farmer, Jr. They were married March 5th,1948 and relocated to Beckley, WV during August, 1948. Regina was a member of the Beckley First Baptist Church where she regularly attended the Fellowship Sunday School Class and Lizzie Lewis Circle. For many years, she was a former member of Memorial Baptist Church of Beckley and enjoyed the many friends made there. Regina was 96. A beautiful lady, she will be forever missed by her family and friends.
Regina has four children with Charles: Cynthia L. Farmer Rinaldi, deceased, of Summerville, SC, Jo Anne Farmer Richardson (Wilton) of Charleston, SC, Charles D. Farmer (Nancy) of Beckley, WV and Christopher A. Farmer (Becky) of Clendenin, WV. She has three grandchildren; Joshua C. Richardson (Emily) of West Ashley, SC, Jonathan P. Richardson (Heather) of Monks Corner, SC, Madison C. Farmer (Josiah) of Charleston, WV., and 2 step grandchildren: Breanna Goodman Yoke (Justin) of Beckley, WV and Lindsay Goodman Underwood (Jared) also of Beckley, WV. She was extremely proud of five great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. She has three nephews, one great niece and many cousins.
Regina was proceeded in death by her parents David L. Hughes and Cecil Mae Hughes, her husband of 71 years Charles C. Farmer, Jr., Charles' parents Charles C. Farmer, Sr. and Bessie Sue Worley Farmer, two brothers, Joseph H. Hughes and Jack G. Hughes, and her beautiful and loving daughter, Cynthia L. Farmer Rinaldi.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Beckley First Baptist Church, 422 Neville Street, Beckley, WV, 25801. Visitation begins at 12:00 PM with the funeral service conducted at 1:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pastor Doc Adkins will be officiating. The pallbearers will be Charles D. "Chuck' Farmer, Christopher A. "Chris" Farmer, Joshua "Josh" Richardson, Jonathan "Jon" Richardson, Josiah Mounts and Bruce Blankenship. The family sincerely appreciates the aid and comfort provided by Mr. Bruce Blankenship, of Melton Mortuary, unto our mother throughout many years.
In lieu of flowers, Regina would like donations sent to the Beckley Area Foundation's Farmer-Sims Fund, the Gideons International Memorial Bible Fund and Hospice of Southern WV, Inc.
