Rev. Glen Curtis, 92 of Beckley, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 29, 2019, following a short illness. Born on June 6, 1927, in Sharkey, KY, he was the son of the late Claude and Ada Curtis.
First and foremost, Glen was a born-again Christian who served the Lord as a minister. Rev. Curtis had previously pastored at the Man Church of the Nazarene among others before his retirement. He was an active member of the Beckley Church of the Nazarene and continued to serve the Lord as a pastor when needed. In addition to his church work, Glen taught agriculture in the public school system for many years. Glen served his country as a member of the U. S. Army during the occupation of Japan following World War II.
Glen loved the Lord and he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane; son, Terry; three brothers, and two sisters. Glen is survived by his wife, Dorothy Roberts Curtis of Beckley; son Barry Curtis and wife Alice of Colonial Heights, VA; daughter Devona Smith of Beckley; stepson Greg Atkins and wife Stacy of Beckley; grandchildren Kimberly Curtis and husband Bruce Vlk; Devone’ Christmas and husband Terry; Charlee Adkins; and great-grandchildren Audrey Vlk and Foster Christmas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Michael Smith and Associate Pastor David Morris officiating. Entombment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Beckley. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service.
