Mr. Richard Crocker Covington Jr. "Chip", age 67, of Crab Orchard, West Virginia, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025 at his home.

Richard was born January 21, 1958 in Raleigh, North Carolina, a son of the late Richard and Jacqueline Covington. He married the love of his life, Vanessa Carrie Chaffin on June 27, 1986 at Hilltop Baptist Church in Crab Orchard, WV.

Chip was an avid bowler and was a member of the league at Leisure Lanes in Beckley. Chip loved to fish, and watch TV especially Gunsmoke. He attended the congregation of Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church with his best friend Ronnie Lilly for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Vanessa Carrie Covington of Crab Orchard, WV; one daughter, Beth Daniel(Jeremiah) of Mount Hope, WV; one sister, Karen Akers(Mark) of Beaver, WV; one brother Chris Covington(Tammy) of Madison VA; two grandchildren, Jonah Daniel, and Norah Daniel, and many other extended family, and friends who will all miss Chip dearly.

A celebration of Chip's life will take place on Wednesday August 13, 2025 at 3:00pm in the sanctuary of Jones Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Metrick officiating. The family will accept friends beginning at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a memorial donation in Chip's memory to Jones Memorial Baptist Church, PO Box 385, Beaver, WV 25813.
