Rick Adkins, 67, died suddenly on the morning of April 29th, 2022. He was the son of the late Milburn and Geneva Adkins of Beckley, WV. Rick passed away at his home in Surfside Beach, SC, where he had recently moved, after living in Beckley, WV for 64 years.
Rick is survived by the love of his life, Mary Sue Adkins, two sons Jacob and his girlfriend Jamie Holliday of Beckley, WV and Jerrod Adkins of Charlotte, NC; his sister C. Donna Redden (Larry Hager) of Beckley, WV and brother, Dennis (Cathy) Adkins Sevierville, TN; his life-long best friend, Carl Campbell, Daytona Beach, FL; his favorite niece, Faith (Mando) Quintela, Carlsbad, NM.
Rick was well known in the coal mining industry and was proud of the business, A&C Equipment and Supply, he and Carl started in 1989.
After retirement, he began working on his dream car, the same car he drove in high school, a 1969 Garnet Red Z28 Camaro. With great pride, the car, named Jezabel, was certified Legend Class by Jerry MacNeish and the American Camaro Association. The Legend’s class sets the bar by which all restored Camaros aspire.
Rick loved to travel to his favorite destinations including Key West, Nashville, Disney and Sturgis, SD with his many friends Carl, David, Debbie, Mike, Colleen, Jerry, Kathy, Faith, Mondo and more.
Rick was loved and admired for his infectious smile, laugh, and kind heart. He looked forward to his Friday night escapades with friends far and wide. He lived, worked and enjoyed his life.
Service will be on Friday May 6th at Melton’s Mortuary in Beckley, WV. Friends may visit from 2-4pm with service beginning at 4pm. In keeping with Rick's wishes, we invite all friends and family to speak and share stories about Rick. Feel free to wear your shorts and flip flops!
