Robert Monroe Wills Obituary

Robert Monroe Wills, 86, of Rock Creek, WV, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 15, 2025, at Raleigh General Hospital, in Beckley, WV. He was born on May 8, 1939, in Rock Creek, WV. Robert (Bob) was one of five children of the late Clarence Wills and Donna Marie Williams Wills.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years Sandra Kay Wills, sister Jo Ann Blum, and brothers John and Gene Wills.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Victoria Lynn (Ivan) Jarrell of Rock Creek, WV; son Michael Robert (Melissa) Wills of Bunker Hill, WV; grandchildren Shelby Lynn (Trenon) Calloway of Glen Daniel, WV, Emma Marie (Colton) Williams of Lewisburg, WV, and Lindsey Beth, Kaylyn Noelle, and Ian Michael Wills of Bunker Hill, WV; a great grandson Samuel Scott Calloway of Glen Daniel, WV; and a brother James Michael Wills of Farmville, VA.

Bob graduated from Marsh Fork High School in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959 where he proudly served three years and achieved the rank of sergeant. In 1964, Bob married Kay, and they moved to Cleveland, OH, where he began work at a steel plant. During their time in Ohio, Bob also studied American Karate and earned his 3rd Degree Black Belt. Shortly after the birth of their second child, Bob and Kay moved back home to Rock Creek, WV, where they built their life together. Bob worked hard to provide for his family. He worked at Bethlehem Coal Company before starting his own trucking company, S.K. Wills Trucking, that he ran for 30 years. Outside of work, he loved nothing more than being with his family. Bob also took classes and loved to fly airplanes, which is a passion he shared with his younger brother Jim, whom he was very close to. After he retired, Bob was always working in his garage, exercising, riding or taking care of his horses, and spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids who meant the world to him.
