Roger Lee Petrey, 63, died unexpectedly June 8, 2025, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Roger was born on November 8, 1961 in Toledo, Ohio to James and Thelma Petrey. He was a chef and worked more than 25 years at the Raleigh Convention center and also at Skyline for several years. He loved to cook, fish, and spend time with his kids.

He was proceeded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Steve.

He leaves behind his sweetie/only love, ex-wife, and best friend, Melissa. His son, Jimmy Petrey; daughter, Emily Petrey; and his furry best friend, Joy. His sister, Rhonda; and brothers, Bennie, Jeff, Eugene, and Jason; as well as their spouses and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Christine Taylor- Cernuto for helping him at home, taking him to many of his appointments, and staying with him at the hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday 14th at Melton Mortuary. Family will be receiving visitors starting at 12 pm until the service time. The Funeral Service honoring Roger will begin at 1 pm with Pastor Juddie Buckley officiating. After the service, everyone is welcome to come to Skyline for a fundraiser and celebration.
