Roger Lee Warden

Roger Lee Warden was born on September 25, 1943 in Grandview, WV and went to be with his late wife, Janet Ann Warden in Heaven on June 8, 2021 in Beckley, WV.

Roger is preceded in death by his late mother, Bertha (Rogers) Warden; his loving wife of 44 years, Janet; infant grandson Daniel Lee Ferguson; and his brother Harry Wood.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter Laura Ann Ferguson; three grandchildren Margaret Ann Ferguson, Jacob Michael Ferguson, and Melody Ann Ferguson; sisters Yvonne Bryant, Drema Clement, Karen (Dwight) Long, and Debbie (Dale) Meadows; brothers Arthur (Sharon) Warden and Timmy (Mary) Warden; and his very best friends Frank (Glenna) Richmond and Roger (Trish) Johnson who will all miss him dearly.

Roger was a proud retiree of the Raleigh County School System having served with them for over thirty years as a school bus operator and mechanic.  He was also a US Army Veteran serving from 1961 until 1964.  During his time in the military he traveled across the United States, to South Korea and Hawaii.

Roger was a history enthusiast with anything to do with the military and WWII. A major part of his life was his beloved basset hounds Rufus and Anna Belle.

Following his retirement, he stayed busy by operating his own sawmill in his back yard.  Most importantly, he loved to spend time with his friends and family.

A memorial celebration of Roger’s life will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, June 14, 2021 at the Grandview Christian Church; 185 Table Rock Rd., Beaver, WV 25813.  The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-6 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Hospice of Southern West Virginia in memory of Roger.  For those who wish to send flowers, the church can receive them from 2-4 pm.  Words of comfort may be offered to the family by visiting www.meltonmortuary.com
