Ronald "Ron" Keith Gunter Sr, age 73, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026 after a short battle with illness.

Ronald was born July 16, 1952 in Beckley, West Virginia, a son of Ronald B. and Elizabeth Mae Gunter. He married the love of his life, Judith "Judy" Ann Gunter and they spent 37 wonderful years together before her passing in 2025.

Ronald was a quiet man who loved spending his time by the river and telling a good joke. He enjoyed the time he spent with Judy in their place by the river. There were few things better than being together by the river. Ronald loved to bowl and play golf. He created many fun memories to share about his sports endeavors with his loved ones. Ronald had a love for muscle cars too. His favorite was a 1967 Chevelle that he owned. There was nothing like a drive in his Chevelle.

At family functions, you could find Ronald surrounded by children and animals. He has that quiet calming disposition that called them to him. Ronald's family loved him dearly and his loss is deeply felt. He was a quiet strength that his family loved and cherished.

Ronald will be reunited with his loving wife, Judy Gunter; his parents, Ronald and Elizabeth Gunter; and step-son, David Morgan.

Those left to cherish Ronald's memory are his children, Valerie (Bruce) Reesor and Keith (Amber) Gunter; step-sons, Kevin (Mareena) Morgan and Mark (Trish) Morgan; brother, Daniel (Carolyn) Gunter; grandchildren, Nikki, Cari, Hayden, Bryce, Faith, Luke, and Eli; and 3 great-grandchildren.

In accordance with Ronald's wishes, he will be cremated and his family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, West Virginia in Ronald's honor. The family thanks the staff of Bowers for the wonderful care they gave to Ronald.
