Ronald "Ron" G. Frye

Ron G. Frye, 66, of Mabscott, WV, passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2022.  He was the son of the late Martha England-Cook and Basil Cook of Mullens, WV.

Ron graduated from Mullens High School in 1973 and spent most of his adventurous life in the hotel industry as a manager at the Baymont Inn on Harper Rd.  He was a member of the Stanaford Road Baptist Church and served with the Mabscott Town Council for four years.

Ron enjoyed yard work, spending time with people as well as his church family.  He had a sense of humor that everyone will remember him by and of course he loved spending time with his wife.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers Lewis, Jack and his twin brother Richard Frye.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 40 years, Lura; son Eric Frye and his wife Joetta of St.  Joseph, MO; daughter Rhonda Frye-Rakes and her husband Todd of Elkin, NC; 6 grandchildren Tyler, Jacob, and Casey Frye of Missouri, Brionna Rakes-Marion and her husband Hayden, Dakota Rakes and Hunter Rakes all of Elkin, NC; great-granddaughter McKenna Frye of St. Joseph, MO; great-grandson Connor Marion of Elkin, NC; sister Iris Manning and her husband Jimmy of Barkers Ridge, WV, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Rick Martin officiating.  The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 pm prior to the service.  Interment will follow services at Sunset Memorial Park with family and friends serving as pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Ron.
