On Wednesday, July 29th, 2020, our most cherished, Rosalea Blast passed away peacefully at her home in Mullens. She was 68 years of age.
The second of three children, Rosalea was born on June 25th, 1952 at Rhodell. She was the daughter of the late Clinton Lee and Ruby Ethyl Bell Gration. Her brother, Danny Gration has preceded her in death. Her only sister, Barbara Evans and her husband, Mike of Chicago, Illinois survive along with a niece, Susan Johnson and her husband, Josh of Palmyra, Michigan and nephews, John and Jason Matthews of Chicago. There is a large extended family as well.
Rosalea spent her early childhood at Rhodell. Her family settled in Chicago where she lived for many years. The family worked in the restaurant industry having owned Sammy’s Country Kitchen which they still operate to this day. Rosalea was a wonderful cook.
Rosalea has faced many challenges. In addition to her parents and brother, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Smith; and husbands, Robert Smith and Lee Blast. Later in life she made her home in Mullens.
We like to think all is well now. Rosalea is reunited with her family that has gone on before. May she forever rest in peace. God speed…..until we are all together again.
In keeping with her wishes, Rosalea has been cremated and there will be no formal services.
