Rosetta June (Walker) Matherly "Mimi", passed from this life into her eternal home on April 6th, 2026 at the Fayetteville Healthcare Center surrounded by her loving family.

Rosetta was born on June 20th, 1932, a daughter of the late John Holley Keaton Walker, and Annie (Meadows) Walker in Josephine, WV. Rosetta grew up in Odd, WV. She was a graduate of Shady Spring High School class of 1951. After high school she met the love of her life Orley Carl Matherly Jr. whom she spent twenty one loving years with as a devoted wife until his passing in May of 1974. They built a beautiful family over the many years.

She worked for several businesses in the Beckley area most notably JC Penny, Leggett, and Piece Goods for many years of service. In Rosetta's free time she enjoyed reading especially her favorite author Nora Roberts, gardening, and tending to her beloved flower beds, she was active with her high school class reunion association as well, but above all she enjoyed spending time with her beloved family, and doting over her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who affectionately called her Mimi.

In addition to her parents she is greeted just outside the Eastern Gate by her loving husband Orley Carl Matherly Jr, her three sisters, Evelyn (Walker) Roberts, Daphine Walker, and Lila Walker, and infant son Orley Carl Matherly III.

Those left behind to forever hold and cherish Rosetta's memories are her Children; Jeff(Susan) Matherly, Pam(Mark) Matherly- Schmidt, Kim (Poke) Matherly-DeLung, Orley (Cheryl) Matherly, Darin (Beth) Matherly, Grandchildren; Elizabeth(Sean) Gierveld, John(Meredith) Matherly, David Matherly, James(Rachel) Matherly, Anthony Cangemi, Chris(Tiffany) Robinson, Jonathan(Erin) Robinson, Jason(Taylor) Matherly, Christina(Frank) Oliver, Tracy(Jeff) Monday, Great-Grandchildren; Gerrit, Nathan, Aaron, Wren, Lilah, Dominic, Broc, Kenley, Tucker, Troy, and Kaiden, Special Niece Ella Anne(Steve) Woods, Special Great-Niece, Stephanie(James) Lemon, and many other nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and caregivers who will all miss Rosetta dearly.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff and doctors at Fayetteville Health Care Center, Hospice of Southern, WV, and to the many other doctors, nurses, and caregivers, for all of their professional care, love, and compassion shown to Rosetta, and the family. A Celebration of Rosetta's beautiful life will take place on Tuesday April 14th, 2026 at 12:00 Noon in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Dewey Lowe officiating. The family will accept friends and visitors beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, WV. The family asks that you come as you are to celebrate Rosetta's life as she liked to be comfortable.
