Ruby Bell Gration

On Friday, February 28th, 2020, our most cherished, Ruby Gration passed away in her 85th year at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, West Virginia.

Ruby made her home in Mullens on Guyandotte Avenue.  She was formerly in the restaurant business.  

One of 13 children, Ruby Ethyl Bell was born on March 1st, 1934 at Rhodell.   She was the daughter of the late Sam and Cora Sizemore Bell.   Her brothers, Robert, Charlie, Sammy, Ray and Jessie Bell and sisters, Rosie Hatcher, Laura Lester, Hazel Lester, Ella Blevins and Gracie Bolen have preceded her in death.

Ruby was married to the late Clinton Gration.   To their union was born a son, Danny who has preceded her in death.   There are two surviving daughters, Rosalee Blast of Mullens and Barbara Evans and her husband, Mike of Chicago, Illinois.   The living grandchildren are John and Jason Matthews of Chicago and Susan Johnson and husband, Josh of Palmyra, Michigan; a great grandchild, Ethan Johnson of Palmyra.  A granddaughter, Kelly Smith has passed away.   Ruby’s surviving siblings are Lawrence Bell and his wife, Mary of Doylestown, Ohio and Frances Thompson of Hurricane, West Virginia.   There is a large extended family as well. 

In keeping with her wishes Ruby has been cremated and there will be no formal services.
