Ruth Brooks Kincaid

On Monday, November 16th, 2020 our dear aunt, Ruth Brooks Kincaid passed away in her 90th year.

The second of three daughters, Ruth Ann Brooks was born on August 25th, 1930 at Eccles.   She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Nellie May Holton Brooks.  Her sisters, Betty Brooks Maynor and Dorothy Brooks Basham have preceded her in death as well.   Several nieces and nephews survive.

Ruth spent her childhood at Glen White.    A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1947, Ruth was a secretary for National Mine Service for over 40 years.   On July 28th, 1956, Ruth married her beloved husband, Karl Kenneth Kincaid.  

In her leisure time, Ruth enjoyed volunteer work.   She was involved with American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and the Beckley Veterans’ Area Medical Center.  She also attended Raleigh General Hospital Senior Friends and Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital’s Well I Bee Health and Wellness Program.

On November 2nd, 2001 Karl Kenneth Kincaid passed away, and now, “Oh Glad Reunion.”  

On Friday, November 20th at 11:00 there will be a service for Ruth’s family in the Melton Mortuary Chapel.   She will be laid to rest in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.
