Sande Carl "Bear" Genung

Sande Carl "Bear" Genung, a long-time resident of Beckley, WV, passed from this earth on January 11, 2022. Sande was born on August 13, 1955, in Syracuse, NY, to Warren and Mona Genung who have preceded him in death.

Sande graduated from South New Berlin Central School in South New Berlin, NY. He attended Broome Community College in Binghamton, NY, and graduated with an Associate's degree. Sande earned a Regents Bachelor of Arts degree from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. He worked for several beverage distributors as a salesman for 40+ years.

Sande was an active member of Saint Frances Desales Catholic Church for many years and was also actively involved in the Knights of Columbus, acquiring the distinguished title of Grand Knight.

Sande is survived by his sister Sherri of Missouri, his brother Shawn of Mount Upton, NY, and his brother Scott of Guilford, NY, along with several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on January 22, 2022, at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church. The viewing will be from 9-11 am. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, followed by a Bereavement Luncheon in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Bear (Sande) to Catholic Charities.
