The eldest of five children, Sandra Lenora Pennington was born on January 28th, 1941, the daughter of the late Newton Arlin Pennington Sr., and Mabel Elizabeth Lilly Pennington. Sandy is a descendant of the Pittman family, one of the pioneer families in the Beaver community. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1961 graduate of Shady Spring High School, where she was a majorette and will be remembered for being one of the school beauties. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Bailey and her brother, Gilbert Lee Pennington.
