Sara Meador Obituary
On Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, our dear Sara Lou Meadow, of Beckley, West Virginia passed away after a (battle with various illnesses). She was 92.
A life-long resident of Beckley, Miss Meador was born on March 5th, 1933, to Dewey Hobson Meador and Mary Margaret Stafford Meador
Sara was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in the class of 1950. She received an Associate of Science degree from Marshall University in 1952, returning to Beckley, Sara was employed as a legal secretary for several different Beckley attorneys for a period of 46 years.
In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Ann Brown, a godson, George W. Ballard, III and a very special friend, Sara Otto.
Left to cherish her memories is a niece, Dr. Lou Ann Custer and husband Dr. Edward E. Custer of Brookfield, Massachusetts, and their sons, Taylor and wife, Kelsey of New York City, NY and Patrick of Washington, DC and three godsons, Robert F. Ballard, Scott T. Ballard and Michael S. Ballard (the apple of her eye) and their spouses.
A life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Beckley, Sara served as a former church clerk and deaconess. She was a member of the Women’s club of Beckley and the Women of the Moose and a former volunteer at the Helping Hands Health Clinic. (Sara was always helping her friend and caring for some of them).
She loved visiting and talking about her Uncle Joe and Aunt Dot Stafford’s farm in Virginia. Sara was looking forward to seeing her loved ones in Heaven and finally, “Oh Glad Reunion.”
There will be a graveside service on Friday, June 27th, 2025 at 10:00 am at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Dewy Lowe officiating.
At this time, a special thankyou to Raleigh Center in Daniels for their care of Sara and to Sara’s “girls” (Tossie, Susie, Libby and J.R.) for their love and care for her.
