Steve Colosi Obituary

On Wednesday January 5, Steve Carmel Colosi Jr. passed away suddenly while at work in Bluffton SC.  He was born on January 9, 1961, in Welch, WV to Steve and Mary Jane Colosi. He was preceded in death by his father Steve C Colosi, Sr., paternal grandparents Steve and Palma Colosi and maternal grandparents Woodrow and Mary Ethylene Hardy.   Left to cherish his memory are his mother Mary Jane, precious daughter, Sara Colosi, Soulmate Carolyn and her children Walker Glen, Rosalee Martinez and Rebecca Glen. He is also survived by his sisters, Verna Love, Jeanette Smith (Ronald), and Maria Cochran (Howard) along with many loved nieces and nephews as well as grand-nieces and nephews.

Steve graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, WV in 1979 and from Catawba Valley College in Hickory, NC in 1990, where he studied Turfgrass management.  Steve made his career caring for and building golf courses, including Glade Springs and Greenbrier in WV; Hampton Hall and Ocean Hammock in FL and Riverton Pointe(SC).  He approached his work the same way he approached life, with determination to do his best and have fun while doing it.

Steve enjoyed being with his family and was happy to take on cooking when the family got together, preparing his legendary spaghetti, lasagna, Thanksgiving turkey and so much more.  He was there to help when it was time to make wine or time to fix something that was broken.  Steve was known for his wry sense of humor and pragmatic approach to life.  He was a college football fanatic and would always root for Penn State. He will be missed.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, January 17th at 1:00 pm in St. Francis de Sales Church.  The family will be receiving friends at 12 noon in the church.   The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Sebastian Cemetery.

Masks will be required in the church and social distancing will be practiced

The pall bearers are Tony Colosi, Bruce Messer, Thomas Wood, Ronald Smith, Joshua Smith, James Love V, Matthew Love and James Love VI.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Humane Society of Raleigh County, 325 Grey Flats Road, Beckley, WV 25801.
