Sylvia Christine (Shrewsberry) Davidson Obituary

Sylvia Christine Davidson, age 67, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2026 after a long battle with illness.

Sylvia was born January 30, 1959 in Mullens, West Virginia, a daughter of Estel and Aline Shrewsberry. Sylvia married her other half, Jerry Lee Davidson, on June 17th, 1977. They celebrated 44 wonderful years together before his passing in 2021.

After graduating high school, Sylvia went straight out into the workforce. She worked all her life. Sylvia worked for many years at Hardees as a biscuit maker. Her children fondly remember all the times she brought home cinnamon raisin biscuits that she made with love. Sylvia ended her working life as a Machine Operator manufacturing equipment parts.

Sylvia was a lover of crafts. She enjoyed spending her free time indulging in sewing projects. There is not a family member that was not gifted with a beautiful quilt, unique headband, or personalized hair bow. All 3 of her kids and many of her grandbabies have a handcrafted quilt that will serve as a reminder of the legacy of love she leaves for her family.

Sylvia's love of baking was not solely tied to her work. She could be found singing a tune as she cooked with her family. Sylvia and her children made memories everyday cooking and eating together. She especially loved holiday cooking because it meant the whole family would be together to share their love for one another over a good meal.

Anyone that knew Sylvia knew she had a love for gardening. Sylvia kept a large garden everywhere she lived. Her children fondly remember the peonies that were the largest in Berkeley County and her grape vines that extended throughout the backyard. Of all her plants, Sylvia's favorite was her beautiful daisies. She looked forward to watching them bloom every year.

Above all else, Sylvia's favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. She called her sisters EVERY DAY to share any new gossip they had. The time they spent talking will stay forever in her sisters' hearts. Sylvia loved her family more than anything else in this world. Leaving them was the hardest thing she could do but her children take comfort in the fact that she has been reunited with her other half in Heaven.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Davidson; parents, Estel and Aline Shrewsberry; brothers, Tolbert Shrewsberry, Paul Shrewsberry, Edward Shrewberry, and Timothy Shrewsberry; and sister, Donna Milam.

Those left to cherish Sylvia's memory are her children, Jeremiah Davidson, Joshua Davidson, and Christina Davidson; grandchildren, James Butts, Kalab Davidson, Brooke Davidson, and Korbin Dodge; sisters, Phyllis Brenemen, Faye Sizemore, Evie Perkins, and Cynthia England; brothers, Leon Shrewsberry, Byron Shrewsberry, Jerry Shrewsberry, and Terry Shrewsberry; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends who love and miss her.

A Private Memorial will be held by Sylvia's family at a later date. Those wishing to share messages of support and condolences can be left on her obituary page on the Melton Mortuary website. Melton Mortuary has the honor of serving the family.
