Twila Webb Obituary

Twila Brown Webb

“There are many kinds of hands, but none like the ones we know………” On Monday morning, November 16th, 2020, our sweet and loving mother, Twila Webb folded her hands in eternal rest.   She did so in the presence of her family who loved her so, in the comfort of her own home.   She was blessed with 88 years.

One of seven children, Twila Frances Brown was born up Claypool Hollow on June 23, 1932.  She was the daughter of Nathan Doff and Willa Frances Martin Brown.  In addition to her parents, Twila was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth.  She is the fond sister of Joe and Jenny Brown, Treva Bush, Sam and Mozelle Brown, Kirt and Peggy Brown and Theresa and Sam Shannon.

Twila has been blessed with a long life.  Challenges yes, but the good memories will outlast all the sad ones.   On October 3rd, 1949, Twila married the love of her life, James Leonard Webb.   To their union was born three daughters, Debbie and twins, Melissa and Melinda.   Leonard and Twila were all about family.  While Leonard worked in the coal industry, Twila was a busy homemaker and also worked for the Raleigh County School system, retiring from Crescent Elementary School with 20 years of service.  She had many interests; reading, crafting, she loved to quilt.  Late in life Twila has become a “computer geek”   she loved her friends on Face Book and computer gaming.  Twila and Leonard worshiped at the Eccles First Baptist Church.   On October 25 th, 2009, shortly after celebrating 60 years of marriage, Leonard passed away.   And now, “Oh glad Reunion.”

The daughters and their families carry on the legacy.  Debbie Pennington and Donnie Keffer  and  Melissa Southern and Steve all reside in Glen Daniel, Melissa Griffith lives in Beckley.   Sons-in-law, Ronald Pennington and Duke Griffith have passed away as well.    Twila was the proud grandmother of Tracy and Jeff Osborne, Shawn Pennington, Heather Griffith, Brian Southern, and Michelle and Scott Birchfield.  Grandson, Scott Griffith passed away 18 years ago.   There are 7 great grandchildren and two great great- grandchildren.  We her family, are going to miss Twila so very much.  She meant the world to us and we were blessed with these wonderful parents.   Truly….unconditional love

And so you see, “There are many kinds of hands, but none like the ones WE know.   They were the hands that guided us, the hands that loved us so.  They were busy hands, doing things for us and others.  Once, they were so young and pretty, the kind you like to see, but though the years the hands grew old taking care of all of us.  WE will always love these hands they are like no other, for the hands we tell you about are the hands of our dear mother, Twila Frances Webb.   May she forever rest in peace.

There will be a service for the family on Thursday, November 19th  at 2:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel.   The Rev.’s Garry Hall and Wayne Peters will be officiating.    Twila will be laid to rest with her loved ones that have gone on before at the Callaway Cemetery at Glen Daniel. Paul Cody Osborne, Brian Southern, Tyler Pennington, Kevin Phillips, Jeff Osborne, and Scott Birchfield have the honor of carrying Twila to her final resting place.
