Vickie Lynn (Gobbell) Athey, 73, passed away on March 31, 2025, in Beckley, WV.

Born on February 5, 1952, Vickie dedicated her life to her family, embracing her role as a housewife with love and devotion.

A person of deep faith, Vickie was a devout Baptist, attending services at Wildwood House where she lived. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her daily practice of reading the Bible, which provided her comfort and guidance throughout her life.

Vickie was cherished by her family and friends for her generous spirit and her willingness to help others.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that is carried on by her children: Scottie Dale Hunt and his wife Amy of North Carolina, Sherry Susan Johnson and her husband Richard of North Carolina, Kelly Ray Hunt and his wife Pamela Bailey of Beckley, WV, and James Matthew Hunt of Beckley, WV. She was also a proud grandmother to Michelle, Emily, and Braxton Hunt, and Dylan and Jessica Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Isadore Gobbell and Dorothy Elizabeth (Jarvis) Gobbell, and her husband, James Ray Athey.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no memorial services. The family requests that any gestures of condolence be directed to Kelly Hunt at 510 Ewart Ave Apt 96, Beckley WV 25801, in lieu of cards. Vickie's memory and spirit will be held in the hearts of those she touched forever.
