Walter Ashley Obituary

Walter Woodson Ashley was born on November 3, 1942 in Thurmond, West Virginia to the late Charles and Drema (Workman) Ashley. He passed away on January 4, 2021 in Beckley, West Virginia at the age of 78.

Walter was very devoted to his home, hometown, and all of his friends in his hometown. He was well known as Captain Thurmond and started the Annual Triathlon Races in Thurmond, West Virginia. He was a proud US Air Force Vietnam Veteran having served from September 1963 - January 1967. His friends will miss him dearly and will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Walter was laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 11:00 am. Words of comfort may be offered to friends and family at www.meltonmortuary.com
