Walter Arnold Hill, 71 of Fairdale, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 following a long illness. Born April 23rd, 1948 in Beckley he was the son of the late J. T. and Marie Hill.
Arnold was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Gail Hill on February 4th, 2010, and one sister, Regina Kay Hill.
Arnold worked 42 years in the Coal Mines as an electrician. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp with his family. He loved seeing his great grandkids and watching sports and the Weather Channel on TV. If your wondering if you ever met Arnold, you didn’t, because you WOULD remember. For those of you that did meet him, we apologize, as we are sure he probably offended you. He was renowned for not holding back and telling it like it is.
Despite his crusty exterior, cutting remarks and stubbornness, there is actual evidence that he was a loving, giving and caring person. That evidence is the deep sorrow and pain in our hearts that his family feels from his passing.
Those left to cherish his memory. Lisa Minor of Beckley, Jamie Hill of Fairdale, Kim Pauley and husband of George of Midway, Robbie Hill and wife Bambi of Beckley. Grandchildren: Johnna Minor, Brittani Weis, Caila Hill, Mary Bloom, Mathew Hill, Allie Bolt, Leah Hill, Bryant Hill. Four great-grandchildren, two special kids and one sister Tracie Walls and husband D.J. of Montgomery TX, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He is also survived by his beloved dog Roscoe.
Due to COVID-19 Pandemic private graveside services will be held on Friday and a celebration of Arnold’s life will be held at a later date.
