Willard Ray Farmer, 71 of Coal City, passed from this life into his eternal home on November 2, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was a well loved Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great- Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He was born November 12, 1951, the son of the late Randolph, and Rosina Collins- Farmer, of Affinity, West Virginia. Ray which is what he was known by, worked hard his whole life. He had many occupations, a respiratory therapist, coal miner, carpenter, and horse farrier. He was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of Cales Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Coal City.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years Deanna Farmer, two daughters: Jennifer and husband Dana Gillespie of Mulberry, Florida, Lori and husband Steven Browning of Coal City, grandchildren Charity Grace, Brianna, and Isaiah Ray Gillespie, Halei and husband David Workman, Hannah and Colton Browning, great-grandchildren Amiri and Samuel, brothers and sisters Randy Farmer of Slab Fork, Doralene and husband Sherman Redden of Mabscott, Maudie and husband Randy Watkins of Myrtle Beach, SC, and George and wife Karen Farmer of Dawson. He is preceded in death by one brother Walter Farmer Sr., and granddaughter Zoey Kristine Browning, and two grandbabies.
He loved his family very much and had numerous nieces and nephews that he made special memories with.
Pallbearers will be Isaiah Ray Gillespie, Dana Gillespie, Steven Browning, George Farmer, Donnie Varney, and Jeff Varney, and honorary pallbearer Colton Browning.
A graveside service will take place on Tuesday November 7th, 2023 at two o clock pm at the Farmer Family Cemetery located at 573 Whitby Road Coal City, WV 25823 with Pastor Wayne Browning officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family would ask that memorial donations be made in Ray's memory to the Cales Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. PO Box 12 Coal City, WV 25823.
