William Crockett Sullens Obituary
William Crockett Sullens, passed away on December 22, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on
December 18, 1944, near Winding Gulf, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Joe Sullens and
Maymie Testerman Sullens.
William never married. He is survived by his brothers, Franklin David (Prunella) and
Emmerson Eugene. He was the cherished brother of brothers Floyd Nelson (Audrey), Charles
Chester (Janice), and sisters Mattie Lou (Darris), Leecola Ann (Norval) and Harriet Ruth (Glen
David) all deceased.
William “Bill” graduated from Stoco High School in Coal City, WV, class of 1962. He
proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1967, including a tour in Vietnam.
After his service, he returned to West Virgina to work, but chose to relocate to Arlington, VA. A
few years later he moved to Woodbridge, VA where he continued to live. He worked for years at
Climate Heating and Air Conditioning. He went to school and was licensed as a master
electrician in VA, DC and MD. He moved to a second company for several years. He later
started and operated his own business, Sullens Heating and Cooling. In 2008, Bill embarked on
a new chapter in life, taking retirement.
In his earlier years, he loved hunting, riding his motorcycle, traveling and spending time with
his family. An avid reader, he enjoyed science fiction. A 500 page book was a two to three day
read. He had a strong interest and knowledge of our space program. He was loved for his kind
heart, quiet demeanor and always willing to help those around him and never let them down.
He will be sadly missed by his two brothers and sister in law, multiple nieces and nephews,
their families, cousins, close friends including Ron and Joan Earyes, cousin Gerald and Brenda
Tate, especially their grandson JoJo who called him Uncle Bill.
A Memorial Service was held Dec 30, 2024 3:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home and
Crematory, Inc. 3200 Golansky Blvd. Woodbridge, VA 22192. In lieu of flowers, we request
