William (Bill) Gaylord Holshouser

Beckley, WV – William (Bill) Gaylord Holshouser 84 of Beckley, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday- September 5, 2020 at Harper Mills Nursing Facility following a battle with dementia and other health issues. 

Born August 9, 1936 in Mead, West Virginia.  William (Bill) was the son of William Floyd Holshouser and Mildred Shumate.

William (Bill) served our country for four years as a United Stated Marine.  He was a former firefighter and board President of the Trap Hill Volunteer Fire Department.  He retired as truck driver working with Swift.  He was a Coal Miner for several years.  He was a man of God and loved his family.  William (Bill) loved to hunt, fish, go bowling and read the Bible.  He was on a Bowling League in Beckley, WV for several years.  He spent his last few years battling dementia.

In addition to his parents William (Bill) was preceded in death by his wife Charlo Bridi Holshouser, Sister Ollie Mae Tilley, Brother Tommy Shumate.

Those left to mourn his loss include his daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Ann Holshouser Harden and her husband Douglas Harden of Ellenton, Florida; daughter Dianna Bridi of Kihei, Hawaii, son Timothy Vickers and his wife Selina of Fayette County, WV, son William Richard (Rick) Holshouser and his wife Rebecca of Eccles, WV.

William (Bill) had three grandchildren; Erica Ann Compton and her husband Brian of Lexington, NC, Misty Dawn Brown and her husband Chuck of Glen Daniel, Keagan Vickers of Edmond, WV.  He had six great grandchildren, Hannah RayAnn Flores-Ferrell and her husband Anthony of Colorado, Douglas Jayden (DJ) Klaue of Lexington, NC, Bradley Laris Brown, Madeline Ashton Brown, Gavin Scott Harold Brown, Kaison Garrett Brown all of Glen Daniel, WV. Two brothers Charles Shumate and his wife Patricia of Glen Rogers, WV, Gene Holshouser and his wife Monica of Stoco, WV, one sister Barbara Meadows and her husband Tommy of Glen Rogers, WV.

We would like to thank the staff at Harper Mills in Beckley, WV for the care they provided during his last days.

Services will be held on Monday – September 14, 2020 at 11:00am at Melton Mortuary in Beckley, WV.   His final resting place will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
