Willie "Deontae" Acord

Willie Deontae Acord, age 24, of Lester, WV gained his heavenly wings on February 1, 2021.

He was born January 12, 1997 in Beckley, WV, the first-born child of Willie D. Mitchell and Crystal Ann Acord.

Deontae was a 2016 graduate of Liberty High School and was a star football player, #13 on the field.  He was also a wrestler and basketball player.  He loved all sports.

Deontae is survived by his beautiful daughter Kinsley Brooke Acord; mother Crystal Ann Acord Butler of Charlotte, NC; father Willie D. Mitchell of Lester, WV; several brothers and sisters Halonah, Angie, Amaya, Jonathan, Xavier, and Zavion all at home in Charlotte, NC; half-brothers and sisters Willie D. Mitchell Junior, Natalia, Arileah, all of Beckley, WV and whom he loved.  He also leaves behind his beloved grandmother, Shirley, whom he cherished so much; anyone who knew Deontae heard about, “Grandma.”  He also leaves behind his grandfather Steven Curry of Lester, WV; a very special aunt Billie and her husband James of Crab Orchard, WV; several aunts and uncles Bobbie Kay and Adrian both of Charlotte, NC, Michelle of Beckley, Rocky of Beckley, Sterling of Oak Hill, and Barbara of Mooresville, NC; his very best friend of many years, Cody Wood who is known as his brother; a special friend who has had a good impact on his life, Rob Lewis; and many cousins and friends who loved him.

Deontae loved his daughter, his grandma Shirley, his Grandpa Steve, and his mother Crystal.  He loved the outdoors, loved life, and loved his dog Milo. 

"There is a void that can never be filled but his spirit remains alive in the hearts and minds of everyone he touched or ever met."

Private family visitation will be held from 12 pm – 1 pm on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center.  The family will receive friends for a walk-thru visitation from 1 pm – 3 pm.  A private memorial celebration of Deontae’s life will begin at 3 pm.
